June 21st - 24th 2012 I will be participating in the Arch to Arc Cycle Ride for the James Whale Kidney Cancer Fund.

I do this in memory of my husband David Beecroft who sadly lost his battle with Kidney Cancer in July 2010.

David was a great cyclist and an inspirational force. His diagnosis with kidney cancer was advanced from the onset, yet he never allowed it to define him. 

He was so courageous and so positive throughout his battle to live a normal life and he did. He lived life big time to the fullest, every hour of every day.

I found it humbling how strong he was, how happy he was, how determined he was; and how he could laugh about everything even in the darkest moments. He was my teacher, my best friend and my man! I learnt so much from him and our experience. Life is so precious and it's so important to live for the moment and find happiness in every day. 

I do this ride for him because he'd have totally been up for this. I do it on  his bike so in a way he will be doing it. And I do it for me, to make a difference for somebody else.
