EMMS Bike Ride for the Nazareth Hospital · 1 November 2009
Hello! It's almost time for me to pack the cycling shorts for this year's bike ride for the Nazareth Hospital - we fly out on Sunday 1st November and will cycle from Madaba in Jordan up the Jordan Valley into Israel and on UP to Nazareth over 5 days.
My first ride was back in '97 and after it was completed I vowed to return in '99 as a celebration of my 50th birthday - this year, 2009, saw my 60th birthday and so to mark the occasion I am returning for my 8th ride for the hospital. My admiration for the work of the hospital increases with each visit and my commitment will never diminish. Even though this may be my last bike ride I will continue to support the hospital.
Over the years I have seen the money we have raised on the bike rides:
build a new maternity wing;
buy new beds for the labour ward;
contribute towards the new school of nursing;
build a new accident and emergency facility;
contribute towards the brand new operating suite - I was honoured to be present at the opening in June of this year.
