Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Dad Peter has been able to visit the battlefields and military cemeteries of Normandy during 2017 and 2018 courtesy of the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.  This year at the age of 97 and now  full-time resident of Blind  Veterans UK  Brighton he feels unable to make a third return trip, so this year I am walking on his behalf from the Beaches of Arromanches to Pegasus  Bridge on the 75th anniversary of D-Day.  The photograph is of my Dad last year when we stood on the very slipway my Dad remembers landing at Arromanche  with the RAF a couple of weeks after D-Day. 22 kilometres of walking is of course nothing compared to the sacrifice and efforts made by so many at that time.  The home in Brighton is amazing, with dedicated staff that give so very much, rather like those boys who landed in Normandy in June 1944.
