Mark and I have participated in the Pedal to Paris ride for several years now. In 2010 we gave it a break but we are keen to get back on the road in 2011.

Your support for the Royal British Legion who organise this ride will be massively appreciated. We will be paying our accommodation/travel costs but we are keen to raise sufficient sponsorship to beat the total last time.

We realise, of course, that the credit crunch is affecting everyone but any donation, however big or small, willl be hugely appreciated and sponsoring us now will give us the incentive to keep on getting up at 6 to undertake some challenging training rides in Cornwall over August.

Some people think that giving money to the RBL is tantamount to promoting warfare but nothing could be further from the truth. Cycling through France and meeting ancien combattants in the villages is very moving but they could not understand why such a charity needs to exist - in France the State pays! RBL work inlcudes providing short and long-term care for ex-Service people and their dependants in seven Poppy Homes around the country. They also have have four Poppy Break Centres for those recovering from an illness or bereavement or psychological damage. These men and women really need our support.
