Story
Our daughter Tallulah was born by emergency caesarean on the 19th November 2013. Our world fell apart the following day when we were told that she had minutes, hours or maybe days to live. When she made it through the night we decided to be together as a family with our son, daughter and their grandparents at the Milton East Anglia Childrens Hospice for the time she had left. From the moment we arrived the care and support we received was unbelievable. From playing with our son, to making memorable items we could keep forever, cooking all our meals, to preparing us for the future. The hospice itself felt like a second home and the staff like friends.
Our beautiful Tallulah surprised us all and stayed with us for 19 days. We truly believe that the love and support she received from her family and our friends kept her with us. Being at the hospice gave us the undivided opportunity to say hello and goodbye to our daughter and focus on those precious days as a family of four. They helped us to deal with the hardest experience we have ever had to face.
We will never get over the loss of our precious baby girl but we hope her memory could live on not just in our hearts but the hearts of others by raising as much money and doing as much good as possible throughout the years for this charity that means so much to us.
We thank you for taking the time to read our story and hope that you can help in anyway possible.
Our hospices are not just about end of life care; they're often very happy and fun places, where young people can live life to their full potential. They are places where families feel safe, at home and where they can spend quality time together. We support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Our family-centred approach includes specialist nursing care, symptom management support, short breaks, wellbeing activities, therapies and counselling; all meeting the individual needs of the child, young person and whole family. We offer families flexibility and control over where they receive their care and support; at home, in hospital or at one of four hospices at Milton (Cambridge), Quidenham (Norfolk), the Nook (Norfolk) and The Treehouse (Ipswich). More than half of our care and support is delivered in the home and community, in surroundings familiar and comfortable for the whole family.
