Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page, hopefully with the intention of giving generously for a worthy cause close to my heart.
On March 21st 2009 I'll be taking part in a SKYDIVE to hopefully raise alot of cash for a charity. You're probably thinking what an idiot for wilfully jumping out of a plane! Trust me I'm still asking myself that! Well I'm willing to go through all the nerves, risk and fear if it means I can Help The Aged.
I have personal reasons for choosing this charity: My grandmother recently died after a fall while we were on holiday in India, and my other grandmother is currently in hospital after suffering a stroke that has completely paralysed her left side. I've chosen to share this with all of you as a means to hopefully touch your heart enough to dig into your pockets to help other elderly people that are not as fortunate as the majority of the younger population to look after themselves, especially after an illness or tragic accident.
A few facts from Help the Aged, which should put a rich country like ours to shame: 20% of UK pensioners (over 2 million people) live below the poverty line; 1 in 3 live in sub-standard accommodation; over 1 million older people cannot afford to heat their homes properly. Help the Aged is an international charity fighting to end such horrific statistics and free disadvantaged older people from poverty, isolation and neglect.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help the Aged will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you VERY VERY VERY much!! It means alot to me and elderly people everywhere :)
