*My Story / running challenge has changed more than once due to covid, & so i have edited the information & updated with new details *
2019 was tough, not the best year for me, but there was one personal highlight that I'm very proud of & that was my 1st half marathon. It was an ambition I completed, despite a few physical & mental hurdles, but it was powered by the memory of my lovely dad & raising money for the Alzheimers society who supported our family during his long illness.
I ran the race in march 2019 with a horrible knee injury, which hindered my training & cause me a lot of worry & nerves, but It was the most amazing sunny day in London , & felt fab to cross the finish line.
I knew straight away I wanted to try again, faster & stronger but without injury next time, but Sadly I wasn't successful in the next Ballot.
Then Unexpectedly i had an offer of a London Landmarks 2020 charity place. This was to run for @Alzheimers Research UK which i happily accepted.
The race was scheduled for 29/3/20, but covid 19 had other ideas & locked our whole world down meaning all sporting events were cancelled.
I kept up with training throughout lockdown & tried to stay motivated by setting myself personal targets & also found a love for cycling . Excercise is extremely inportant to my mental health & like many, I found life during lockdown very challenging & emotional.
I was pleased when alzheimers research got in touch me to offer me a place in the royal parks HM event, rather than awaiting a rescheduled london landmarks date.
Then Frustratingly The Royal parks HM was also cancelled due to covid in april 2021, but im excited to train for the new date which im more hopeful will go ahead on October 10th 2021.
Over the last year So many of my friends & clients have had loved ones diagnosed with Dementia or struggling through all the difficulties it brings. Its such cruel disease, one of my biggest fears, & it breaks my heart to see others slowly losing a precious family member, just as my family did some years ago.
My running was put on hold completely due to a foot injury from febuary - june this year but I'm slowly building the miles up again. Its been tough & has felt like starting from scratch, but im determined to find the strength to give it another go...!
Please support me & donate if you can, however small the amount, just click on the link below.
Every pound I raise will make a difference to help scientists find the next big breakthrough, & with hope, discover a treatment for dementia 🧡 Thankyou x
