In February 2013 I completed my first half marathon.   I ran it in memory of my Auntie Jess who passed away on my birthday (11/5/2012) after losing her battle with cancer.  I chose to raise money for Friends of Anchor who were a great support to her and her family.  I was thrilled to raise over £3,000 and it certainly helped me get to the finish line.

So what next??  Obviously a marathon I hear you cry!!  Over a few nights out and several glasses of wine the idea of running a marathon was tossed around by myself and a couple of pals until one day we just decided to go for it!!

I have stuck rigidly (as family and chums will testify) to an 18 week training programme.  There have been some great high's, some definite low's (including a spectacular fall at the end of a 10 mile run), great chat's during training runs with June and Fiona my running buddies who are also doing the marathon and some wonderful support especially from Rod, Murray and Clark.

I am hoping to run the marathon in under 4 hours but just finishing will be a great achievement for me!  To help me through the physical and mental challenge I have figured that running again in memory of my Auntie Jess and raising funds for Friends of Anchor will be the extra motivation I'll need to get me across the finish line.
