Story
Hi Everyone!
I have decided to do the Bupa Great South Run in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Last christmas after a routine mamogram my gorgeous wonderful Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now, I know I am known for being a bit of a drama queen but my heart literally broke when they told me the news. At the same time they told me that the lady at the hospital kept saying 'I need you to know there is no bad news for you Mrs Markham'. This at the time seemed a ridiculous thing to say. No bad news!?! was she kidding me? My lovely little mum had been told she had cancer.
Over the next few months my Mum was told that her cancer was grade 3 (great news!), very small and that the treatment would be a lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy. In the circumstances this is the best news you can get.
Throughout her whole treatment my mum was dignified, brave and calm. This was most definately aided by the wonderful care she received from the hospital, nurses and breast cancer helpline.
I am eternally happy and grateful that in July my Mum had the all clear!! This was truly fantastic news.
I would never wish this horrible ordeal on anyone ever but the grim reality is that cancer affects 1 in 3 of us.By raising money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer it is my hope that if this cruel disease has to affect the people we know and love they have that same phrase spoken to them.
'There is no bad news for you'
