Story
Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer.
1 in 15 men and 1 in 18 women WILL get Bowel cancer in their lifetime. And at an early stage of diagnosis, this is a curable cancer.
I was diagnosed at a “later” stage in September 2018 at a “young” age - Stage 3B Rectal Cancer.
With buckets of medical treatment (2 surgeries, a stoma , reversal surgery and chemotherapy), various therapies and emotional support from friends, families and professionals, I’m thankfully in remission.
But that fear never leaves me.
What it has positively left me with is not only a desire to raise awareness and health promote, but it has left me with greater tenancity, resilience and belief that my body CAN do this, despite so many other issues (pre and post treatment) that will make running this marathon slightly more trickier for me.
However, I’m so lucky to run and train for this with some of my biggest supporters and closest of friends, Susie and Miranda. Thankyou for humouring me. As long as you don’t stop talking to me all the way round, I know we’ll be just grand. And Thankyou to the team behind me making sure I am the strongest I can be, mentally and physically.
We are supporting Bowel cancer UK. A chronically underfunded charity that is so important in creating change, researching new treatments for Bowel cancer and supporting patients and their families through the storm of cancer and it’s aftermath.
Thankyou to all of you reading this, supporting us, supporting this charity and donating.
It’s just incredible.
Much love Anisha and Susie x
