Story
I’ll be doing something I’ve never done before and that is...wear lycra. I’ve been told there is no way I can cycle 100 miles in my kilt so putting on the lycra will be the hardest part of this undertaking.
The longest cycle trip I've ever done is 18 miles to Walthamstow 😊. Taking on the Olympic cycle route (those hills!) has me all a bit terrified! As you'll have picked up I'm no performance cyclist, but I'm going to give it my all and, with your help, raise some funds to help refugees for The Bike Project.
The mission of the Bike Project is simple - they get refugees cycling. When you have to go from charity to charity to feed yourself, a bike can make a real difference - a bike saves £21 pounds a week on bus fares. To put that into perspective, an asylum seeker survives on £37 pounds a week. The Bike Project also does amazing work for refugees with community building and integration programmes that help with well-being.
My goal is to raise at least £1000 for The Bike Project and anyone that helps me reach that goal will be able to sleep in peace knowing I donned the lycra for a good cause and that you’ve also made a huge difference for a refugee.
