Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and supporting this deserving charity.
I have always wanted to raise awareness of mental health following the suicide of my brother, Andrew, who had suffered from PTSD and Depression.
For years I have loved road cycling and decided to really challenge myself! The Maratona dles Dolomites is a prestigious “Gran Fondo” road cycling race held in the majestic Italian Dolomites. It’s 138km in length, with over 4200m (14,000ft) of climbing over 7 mountain passes, which has always been my favourite part of road cycling. To put this in perspective, this is similar to the challenge that professional cyclists take on during a tough mountain stage of the Tour de France.
The Prudential Ride London is an 100 mile road cycling event through closed roads in the capital and the stunning Surrey countryside.
The theme of this years Maratona dles Dolomites is “Duman” meaning tomorrow. This spurred me on to deciding that the time was right for me to raise awareness of mental health.
I would like all of our “Duman” to be better, where those suffering mental health problems no longer feel stigmatised or discriminated against.
As an incentive to donate, once I reach the target I’ll be shaving my legs for the “pro cyclist” look! As you can see from the photo my hairy legs aren’t very aerodynamic!
