Story
Having two children and trying to navigate the world of 'Mother and Toddler' groups it made me realise how important charities like Dads Rock are. I was very lucky that I was welcomed in to the group of Mums my wife had already made. If I didn't have this ready-made setup I wouldn't have known where to start. Most groups are prodominantly aimed at Mums and I think it's really important for Dads and male carers to have the same opportunity when they need it.
Challenge - 4x4x48- is a challenge to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
Inspired by ex-Navy Seal and ultrarunning nutbag David Goggins, the 4x4x48 challenge is the most difficult challenge I've ever attempted (and you know I like a random challenge...!) so please sponsor me if you can.
I'll aim to start on Friday 6th August at around 5pm, running again at 9pm, 1am, 5am...finishing up with my last run at 1pm on Sunday 8th. I'll provide updates here and on Facebook (and you can follow me on Strava too)
"Dads Rock aim to improve the lives and life chances of children, many of whom are at risk of marginalisation. Currently we do this through one to one support for vulnerable young dads; music lessons for young people and their families, playgroups (currently outdoors "Dads in the Wood"), Walking Dads and delivering antenatal and other parenting workshops online. We provide support for the whole family but our focus is on helping dads who are often excluded from current parenting services."
