Norfolk/Suffolk Nurse Fund · 30 January 2020

Mesothelioma UK have a ring fenced fund for a nurse in the Norfolk/Suffolk area.

Story

It is the aim of Anglia Asbestos Disease Support Group and their sponsors Ashtons Legal, to raise enough money to fund a Mesothelioma UK Nurse Specialist post in either Norfolk or Suffolk.

The provision of specialist mesothelioma nursing services trained in the charity sector by Mesothelioma UK (a cancer charity specialising in asbestos related diseases) can make a big difference to the lives of sufferers. They are experts in all issues related to mesothelioma including prevention, treatments, clinical trials and finances; and work with clinical teams to ensure equitable access to the best treatments in the UK.

Currently, there is only one specialist nurse based in the East of England, at Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge. This is a difficult and impossible journey for many sufferers living in central and eastern Norfolk and Suffolk.

It costs approximately £44,000 to fund a Mesothelioma UK Nurse Specialist for two days a week, over a two year period.
