Story
100km. 4 of us. 30 hours. 24/25 September
After losing my wonderful Dad and Grandma in April 2020, I really didn’t really think life could get any worse. To somehow move on from all the pain and my subsequent slipped disc, I decided I needed to challenge myself to the max. I asked the girls if they wanted to join me for Oxfam's Trailwalker challenge. Unbelievably, they said yes!! Dad loved walking & would be really proud of our efforts & would cheer us on from the sidelines!
Our goal is to walk 100km over the beautiful south downs in under 30 hours. No stopping for sleepovers! We will be kitted out with head torches, good pairs of walking shoes, a few snacks and our conversation to keep us company (although we may run out of things to say!). We will be cheered on along the way by our fabulous Support Crew made up of Will, Ainsley, Leon & Leigh who will be armed with blister plasters, cups of tea, clean socks & words of encouragement (hopefully!)
Exercise TRAILWALKER started out as a military training exercise in Hong Kong in 1981. Organised by the Queen’s Gurkha Signals, and taking place along the famous Maclehose Trail, the exercise sought to test the endurance and teamwork of soldiers of the Queen’s Gurkha Signals over a long and arduous course.
