Story

Ian and myself started Couch to 5k  during the first lockdown. Ian and our daughter Katy completed London Landmarks Half Marathon last year and this year, with Katy now in Australia, Ian needed another running partner so I got the job.  We’re running  for Dementia UK in memory of my lovely mum who battled dementia for over 20 years.  It was a long and very difficult journey.  We were very aware of the lack of understanding and support which surrounds dementia.  We hope people facing a life with dementia and their loved ones will have improving experiences in the future.  Dementia UK provide nurses, called Admiral Nurses, who provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They also provide a free help line for anyone who needs any kind of advice about dementia. They do an amazing job!
