Story
This year I am running the Great North Run as part of Team NEAS!
This year My Son was diagnosed ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder). We like to call it Neurodiverse as we don’t believe he( or anyone else diagnosed) has a ‘disorder’. I want to raise awareness of ASD. I’m still learning myself but the more I open my eyes the more I see how different we all are. It’s hard enough fitting into a box for most people but when you are Autistic it’s a massive struggle and takes a huge amount of energy just to walk out of the door some days. The more we accept each other, the easier life becomes for a large part of our society, that cannot be ignored. This is why I’ve picked up my dusty trainers to run the GNR again, when I said it was my final one last year!. I have to do this for my Son, who is so amazing and my daughter who has been the best sister ever, so patient for someone so young. I’m in awe of them both💕
