Story
Hello, friends and family members.
I have done it! Cycled 250 miles through Northern England in an attempt to raise £2500 for DEC (Kenyan and Somalian famine relief). Come and view my odometer for proof if you need it!
With one last circuit yesterday (over the central moorland ridge of the Furness Peninsula), I notched up my last mile - and was greeted on my arrival home with the news that, with your wonderful support and some remaining 'promises' to be fulfilled, my target fundraising amount has been handsomely exceeded.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to those who have already and so generously donated - as well as cheered me on with hearty messages. It has been all power to my pedals.
It only remains for those who have promised donations - or not yet got around to donating - to get their payment in on this Just Giving page - and then all shall be well. So, come on now, dawdlers! Click on DONATE now.
The 50-mile circuits were:
Route 1: Scarborough - Thornton-le-Dale - Scarborough (completed August 24)
Route 2: Hawes - Nateby - Keld - Hawes (completed Sept 2)
Route 3: (new route: Ulverston - Grisedale route rained off): Calderdale: Lumbutts - Blackstone Edge - Ripponden - Oxenhope: (completed Sept 9)
Route 4: Amble - Bamburgh - Amble (completed Sept 15)
Route 5: Ulverston - Furness Abbey - Subberthwaite - Lowick - Ulverston (completed Sept 22)
Your support has been amazing: personally encouraging of me and therefore very touching, and fabulously life-changing as far as the Kenyan/Somalian famine is concerned. Be assured that Just Giving gets your money - plus gift aid - to where it is needed, with only a minimal percentage being directed elsewhere. It has convinced me that it is by far the most effective way to donate aid from afar.
Thank you, thank you one and all.
