Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm attempting to swim 22 miles to raise £150 of sponsorship money for Diabetes UK.

It's as simple as that, no gimmicks, just me squeezed ever so tightly into my Tankini, swimming at the very least - 1416 lengths of a 25m pool.

If you sponsor me generously, I promise not to subject any of you to photos of me in my swimming cap, goggles and reconstructed tankini. Saving your eyes from that is surely worth a few of your pounds! 😬

On a more serious note, I know many people with diabetes and sadly there's approx 700 people diagnosed with it every day. Many more are unaware they have it and sadly, ignorance and bad management of diabetes kills.

It's not just a FAT person's disease, as people from a myriad different backgrounds and lifestyles can be born with it or get it. Healthier lifestyles can prevent it, but please don't think it's attributed just to fat people as it's not, it doesn't discriminate!

What it can do if it's not managed is kill you! Kidney failure, loss of eyesight and amputations are just a few things that can happen. Yes, I want to help in a small way and if can raise £150, I'll be forever grateful (hopefully a tad lighter) and I give my word I won't cheat or post any nightmare pictures. Brownies honour. 😜
