Angheloiu's Better Futures Through Education
Fundraising for GlobalGiving
A few months ago, my trip to Lao turned in to an exchange knowledge experience. I was volunteering, teaching monks and children english in a small temple called Wat Sisavan Tevalok in Luang Prabang, while they were teaching me about their religion, culture and dreams. It didn't took long to realize how poor these children were, the hard life they had in the village, how education was a luxury and only a few can afford it. The majority of the children I've spent time with during my stay there worked on the rice fields and sadly that's the only way to survive if they didn't learn english.
English is what's needed the most for a better future in Lao but that costs money, money their families don't have as the average income is about € 2 a day.
Around € 100 can pay a child's english lesson for the whole year in the Mekong River school.Their stories and eagerness to learn warmed my heart and opened my mind to help them achieve their dreams. I was spending no more then 3 hours a day teaching but the time they put in to study english was around 6-7 hours daily. Most of the time all by themselves, just a couple of English - Lao dictionaries, a English primary school book, few pens and a white board. Anyone who's so determined to learn deserves help and support. Children in Lao have very little but are extremely grateful for the smallest things in life plus they always wear a smile which is contagious!
Please support me with my cause, spread the word and give! Every euro counts, thank you kindly.
