Story
As a lot of you are aware Bek and I went through a devastating time a couple of weeks ago when our daughter Angelica was sadly born sleeping. The levels of support from people near and
far have been brilliant which we will be forever grateful for.
During the worst moments from hearing the news, the midwives at Russells Hall were phenomenal. We were in and out the hospital across two weeks with a long and tiring final stay of 4 days.
During that 4 days in hospital, we were lucky enough to stay in a delivery room named “Luna’s Legacy” which is specially designed/equipped for parents in our situation that with no warning have to go through the worst of ordeals. These rooms are amazing, they are sound proofed which means being located on the delivery ward, you don’t hear other babies, its equipped with a double bed allowing partners/family to be able to stay by Mom’s side 100% of the time and the room is prepped with thoughtfully considered care packages containing toiletries, hand/footprints sets and memory boxes for keepsakes. This room made the worst possible thing
to go through a lot more comfortable than it could have been for which we are extremely grateful for.
Unfortunately, there is only one of these rooms available at Russells Hall Hospital currently and the “Bereavement Baby Fund” are working tirelessly to raise money to create another one. It is heart breaking to know we were not the only family to lose a little one that week, I think there were another 4 which means most of those parents wouldn’t have had access to a room like we did.
I think the work this charity is doing is amazing and Bek and I have committed to try and raise as much money as we can to help go towards funding another room alongside this one at Russells Hall Hospital. With this in mind, Bek and I will both be running 100k and cycling 100k throughout the month of June!!
This is a huge challenge for us, (more so me because I am getting old and can’t run very well) but we feel it’s necessary and needs to push us both out of our comfort zone for such a worthy cause.
We have started the challenge this week on the morning of the 1st of June running our first 5k. I will be posting updates every few days to let everyone know how we are getting on but would absolutely love as much support as possible with this, any sponsors, donations, or even shares of the page to raise awareness further than we can do on our own would be hugely appreciated by both of us.
Thankyou in advance
Love, Chris & Bek
