Story
My mom... my precious sweet mom, died of cancer at age 64. She had a strong faith and she gave a courageous fight. She loved deeply and fully. She compassionately and unconditionally cared about others. Therefore, I choose to take a stand against cancer and to help people fight it with all the guts and glory they have.
My story begins the week before Mom died. I was braiding my first daughter's hair, while sitting next to my mom on her bed. A very unexpected call came in from our adoption agency that day. This call brought light to us... good news... in a very grief-filled time. Overrun with emotions surrounding death, the news of a referral for our family was delight to all of us -- much needed and treasured. To see my beautiful Mom's face as she heard we would be adding a Ugandan daughter to our family was priceless. It is a moment I will cherish forever.
Four months later, my husband and I traveled to Uganda. There, we met our beautiful daughter, our God-sent angel. We also learned about her culture, visited and spent time with her foster family, and made good and true friends. We will soon be taking our next trip back to Uganda to bring her home.
Throughout this journey, we realize what is important. It is God. It is our family. It is the love we share with one another. It is life.
We want to give back. We want to try to make a difference in someone's life. In Uganda, healthcare isn't the same as what we are privileged to have in America. Please help us fight cancer, and give someone in Uganda the chance to obtain treatment. Visit Uganda Cancer Trust UK at http://www.ugandacancer.org.uk/ for more information on what they do to help.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.....
Sincerely,
Amy
