Story
Our story
Devastatingly we lost our eldest twin daughter, Ava on the 21st October 2009, after Ava fought for 14 hours to stay with us and her younger twin sister, Ophelia. Both of our girls were cared for by the staff at the Peter Dunn Neonatal Intensive Care Unit based at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol. The care and support received by Ava, Ophelia, Matt and I was astounding and we want to say a huge thank you to the staff at NICU for all they did for both girls and enable them to continue helping other parents and babies. We also want to do something positive in our darling girl's name. We believe that Ava would be proud to know that she is doing something amazing to help other babies like herself and her little sister Ophelia.
What are we doing to raise money?
We have hosted two major fundraising events and are planning another event on 7th April 2012. Please check out our website (www.angelava.co.uk) for further details of Ava's Easter Extravaganza.
Where is money going?
We are raising funds for the Peter Dunn Neonatal Intensive Care Unit based at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol. Money raised from this page and also the events we host will be used by NICU to either buy much needed equipment or provide better facilities for parents.
Above and Beyond is the umbrella charity for all of the nine hospitals in the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. All of the money raised on this page will go straight to the Peter Dunn Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and used in Ava's name. We have already raised £6500 for NICU which was been used to pay for various bits of equipment such as a monitor, IV pump and vapotherm.
