Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Well, I did it ... and it was the most mentally and physically demanding thing i've ever done! Here's a brief summary of the week ...
Day 1 - 6km ... Got sun stroke because I wasn't hydrated after the long flight and 6 hour coach transfer!
Day 2 - 30km ... Drank about 6 litres of water and made it through a very hot day with very little shade.
Day 3 - 28km ... Nice breeze ... a mountain and some undulations!
Day 4 - 25km ... Great walking weather ... lots of undulations (i.e. full on scree slopes!)
Day 5 - 15km ... Beautiful Ugab river walk followed by a long hilly trek to the finish line ... WOOHOO!!!
As I expected the most challenging thing really was the scorpions and spiders, however, the knock on effect I hadn't considered was the lack of sleep because of them ... I've calculated that I now have at least 21 hours sleep debt!!
All in all it was an amazing experience and i'm really pleased to have raised so much money for such a worthy charity.
At just £600 short of target, I may have to sell just a few more samosas ... or you could just boost my total right now!
