On Saturday 11th May I am hosting a Coffee, Cake & shopping day for ladies at home to raise money for the charity Buttle Uk, Anna asked could she choose who we were going to raise for and this was her chosen charity. Most of you will probably have never heard of them , we hadn't either before this years Children in Need appeal. Buttle Uk are a charity that provide emergency help to children living in extreme poverty, their short video on Children in Need where of childen they had provided with beds.  One family consisted of a teenager who lived alone with two younger siblings as their mum had passed away, money was extremely tight and they had one very old single bed that the little ones slept in. The older sister slept on the sofa, of which the frame was broken, as she couldn't bring herself to sleep in their second single bed as her mum had died in it.Buttle Uk provided this family with a new bed each, Anna and I couldn't look at eachother after listening to their story as we both had tears streaming down our faces and thats why Anna chose this charity for our fundraiser at home. 

Below is Rory's story : 

Hello, my name is Rory.

We left Dad and our first home a while ago now, we left because my Mum and Dad shouted a lot, they yelled all the time. I don’t think that Dad liked my Mum very much anymore because he was always mean to her and sometimes he hit her too. 

We moved to a new house but I don’t like it here. My bed here was broken and dirty and it really smelled. My Mum works all the time; she doesn’t have time to do things with me or to wash my sheets if I have an accident in the night. I know that I’m not meant to wet the bed anymore, that I should be better, but I don’t mean to do it, I really try not to. 

I don't sleep very well because my bed was wet and uncomfortable and the other kid’s at school told me I was smelly. I couldn’t concentrate on what the teacher was saying and the others tell me that I’m stupid. Maybe I am? I try really hard to be good at school and at home but it doesn’t work. Sometimes I get angry at myself, if I do badly at school then I’m in trouble at home, if I have an accident at night then I'm in trouble too - I try to hide it but I always get told off in the end. I sometimes think that it would be better if I wasn’t here anymore.

Tom, my support worker, wrote to a charity and they got me a new bed. I try really hard not to mess this one up, by Tom got me a special sheet too which is easier to clean. I can clean it myself and not worry Mum, she doesn't get so angry with me now and the kids at school have stopped calling me names because I don't smell any more.

This charity does amazing work for children who really need it, surely all kids at least deserve somewhere warm and comfortable to sleep ? I have set up this page so that I can collect donations from people who can't come on the day but would still like to contribute towards our total so please please help if you can !!
