Riley was such a beautiful little flame haired toddler who drank gallons and gallons of milk. He started suffering with constipation which went on for weeks and it was only when he started loosing weight did the doctors take his mum seriously. They confirmed he had a large mass in his stomach which was preventing him to go to the toilet, this then caused a collapse of his left lung and pneumonia. He was transfered to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and a few days later they confirmed the mass was Cancer. Riley had a Rhabdoid Tumor so big they couldn't tell where it originated from so the plan was to fill him with chemo (drugs) to reduce the tumor to enable them to carry out surgery and remove. Unfortunately surgery was cancelled before xmas and we will never know if the delay gave this deadly tumor more time to adhere itself to vital organs. His surgery was carried out in Jan 2012 with 2% remaining on his aorta and his spinal column, we knew then Rileys condition was terminal. Radiotherapy was offered intense for 2 weeks to buy the family some time but with Rileys parents being separated his mum had to leave work to be with him and try and get him through treatment, he has a beautiful sister Lenina and dad and grandparents stepped in to fill the gap while mum was with Riley. The family were using savings to keep the mortgage and bills paid while Angela was out of work there was no money available to sort a holiday and then in stepped the amazing When you Wish Upon a Star charity they came to visit Angela and Riley and wanted to know what he liked, once they met him they arranged a magical trip for both parents both children and the Grandparents to go to Disneyland Paris for the most magical Holiday. This gave them opportunity to Enjoy the last ever holiday they would ever get the chance to spend as a family. To take thousands of pictures and videos to enable them to make lasting memories to last them the rest of their lives, and while money paid for the holiday , no amount of money could replicate what that holiday did for this family. No one wants to be touched by this dreadful disease but I know who I want on my side. For everyone all over the North west who attends a function or who buys a raffle ticket to people who make donations no matter how small every penny goes to ensuring these children get a wish and put a smile on a face and what it does for these families resinates throughought their lives. Thank you for taking the time to visit the page and read my story the money raised for my head shave will go to help more wishes be granted.
