I am running a 10km race on Sunday 3rd January 2010 for the Robyn Higgins Appeal.

Robyn is the 7 year old daughter of Greg Higgins, a colleague of mine.  In May, Robyn was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma cancer and has since endured numerous bouts of chemotherapy, stem cell harvesting and a nine hour operation to remove the tumour, which has left her currently unable to walk.  She is now on a final course of tablets, after which if the cancer returns, she will receive palliative care only.  Robyn has been given only a 40% chance of survival.  There is a treatment she can receive that may boost this, however this treatment is not available in England so Robyn's family are trying to raise £300,000 for them to travel to the Sloan-Kettering hospital in New York for her to receive it there.  In order for the treatment to be effective, it has to be given whilst Robyn is taking this final course of tablets, which she will be until the end of January.  They have already managed to raise £200,000 but still need the last £100,000 and time is really running out.

Anything you can give will make a big difference.  Thank you.

About the charity

The 2Simple Trust helps families of children suffering from neuroblastoma. Help is given by the provision of financial assistance for treatment and other needs as well as the funding of research into the disease. This work will shortly be transferred to a new charity set up specifically for the purpose and called The Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance.
