Way back in 1998 I met a group of people online who all had one thing in common, our undying love for Jamie Fraser, Scottish hero of a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. (I know it sounds mad but it's true!) Believe it or not, through Jamie and the Ladies of Lallybroch website we have become very good friends even though we live all over the world. Just before Christmas 2016, one of these friends, who also happens to be one of the nicest people I know, was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumour. With the love of her family and friends and her incredible strength of character Iona is taking each day as it comes and as much as possible, living life to the full. I don't wan't this to be happening to her, I'm angry and upset and feel helpless as I can't stop it happening. The only chance we've got of finding a way to cure this disease is through research funded by charities such as the Brain Tumour Charity.
So, I've been lucky enough to be offered a place on The Brainy Bunch 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon team and I am going to do my very very best to get around that 26.2 miles and raise as much money as I can for the charity in the hope that some day soon they'll find a cure. So any donation, however small, will be gratefully received.
