Story

Hi thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I gained my place in the London Marathon through my running club. I run for Bude Rats Run & Tri Club.  They were issued with two golden tickets by Virgin to give to club members.  About a dozen of us put our names in a hat and I was one of the lucky ones to be pulled out.  I was shocked at first and then excited to have the opportunity of taking part in such an exciting challenge.

I had no hesitation choosing Macmillan to fundraise for as my mother-in-law has cancer and has done so for many years and they have been a tremendous support to her.  A very close friend of mine is undergoing treatment at the moment and the sad loss of Linda Walker, a friend and work colleague at Peter Peter & Wright, the office I work in, made me want to support Macmillan all the more.

My husband Paul and two children Thomas, 13 years and Holly, 10 years are a great support to me.  Although i'm not sure which Holly is most looking forward to watching me run the Marathon or going to Hamleys Toy Shop!  But we are all very excited to be a part of it.

Training is well under way.  I run either with my club or go out for a run on my own.  Not always appealing when the evenings are not only dark but wet as well but you've got to go out whatever.  Despite this the buzz you feel after running 6+ miles out weighs the weather.   My favourite distance to compete in has been 10k (6.2 miles) in the past.  To up my distance to 26.2 miles is very scary to think about at times.  I have recently taken part in the Braunton 10 miler.  A challenging run with several steep hills but I survived.  On writing my story so far at week eleven training is going well.  I competed in my first half marathon last Sunday, 06 March at Bideford which followed a 20 mile training run the weekend before.  My poor thighs are feeling the strain now after two hard weekends.   Had a few long soaks in the bath this week and rested up for three days. Just been out for the first time this week for a 5 mile run.  All seems ok again.   Aiming to do a 16-18 mile run again at the weekend. 5 weeks to go.  Help!!!!

Any contributions given to this worthy Charity will be gratefully received.  Thank you so much for supporting me in this great challenge.

Love Ang xx
