We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

There are times in everyone’s life, I’m sure, when something you see or hear makes you feel grateful for what you have and inspires you to help others less fortunate.

I remember on one such occasion when I was in my twenties that I had been to see a client and I was frustrated that the meeting hadn’t gone as well as I’d expected and then to top it all, my drive back to the office was very slow due to bad traffic so I was in a foul mood to say the least.

As I approached my office I noticed 2 women walking along laughing away whilst walking their dogs and I felt a slight pang of envy until I realised they were guide dogs.....  I was so taken aback at how wonderful it was that these two women embraced the life they have and could make the best of it and so ashamed that  I was feeling anger for something that in reality was so trivial.

That evening and many times since, I closed my eyes and thought about all the things I would miss if I lost my sight - seeing my family grow up, get married, have children, my partner, my family and friends and of course the beauty of the  area I live in and the places I visit  - the list is endless....

I will  still get moments of self pity and I’m sure most people do but I do get out of my moods sooner by thinking about experiences like this so now I want to give something back and I would be very grateful for your help please.
