At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Fiona and I initially signed up for a personal challenge, however having done a 15 mile practice run we quickly realised that it is a mighty task and thought it a great idea to raise funds for a dementia charity!
Our reasons for choosing this charity is also personal as our beloved granny passed away recently, she suffered from dementia, some days she didn't know our names but she recognised she knew us, and always had a smile for us! As the weeks and months passed granny's condition deteriorated, although she couldn't remember most things she held on to her kind heart and beautiful soul, never forgetting her own children!
The care and attention granny received at the home was brilliant, the staff had many patients requiring the same amount of attention and much more! We would like to raise funds so more people are properly cared for in the appropriate manner and for better research into slowing down this terrible disease!
