Story
I am renowned for being abit of a party animal and look forward to my Friday night wine night with my husband after a working a full week, and running the kids around their multiple clubs that they do. I love nights out with friends and attend plenty of brunches. Drinking each weekend has become a bit of a habit, which I want to break. Im hoping I will shed a few pounds in weight whilst raising pounds for this very worthy charity. I know the money i spend on all of this socialising soon stacks up so I’ve made the decision to stop drinking alcohol for a whole year and for each week I do this, I will be donating £10 to the Alzheimer’s Society and welcome any donations to help me reach my target of £1000, by NYE 2022. I will be toasting in the new year 2021-2022 then that will be it for a whole year..It isn’t going to be easy but I’m hoping I can do this. My Mum has sadly been battling this disease for the last few years and is now at the palliative care stage. This cruel disease has a devastating impact on the families. I saw my Mum lose her Mum to Alzheimer’s in 2015, and it wasn’t long after that my Mum was also diagnosed. Me and my Mum used to love our wine nights in together , but she can no longer enjoy these so I am proud to be giving alcohol up for a year to support this worthy cause. Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
