Story
Last year we lost our Dad very quickly to sepsis. We are going to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for The Uk Sepsis Trust to help raise awareness.
Every 3 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis. In the UK alone, 245,000 people are affected by sepsis with at least 48,000 people losing their lives in sepsis-related illness’ every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally, sepsis claims 11 million lives a year. Yet, for many patients, with early diagnosis it is easily treatable.
The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) exists to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis.
Fundraising is at the heart of their fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: What is sepsis? Fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms. It also funds vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. They also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
Anything you can spare will help. So please donate as much or little as you can afford. It will be greatly appreciated x
