We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Megan. I would like to raise some money for Guide Dogs for the Blind. I have just finished reading a school library book called ‘Archie Hero in Training’.  The book tells lots of true stories about how the dogs and owners are trained.  At the end of the book they tell you lots of facts.  Do you know how much it costs per dog?  Each dog costs £48,500!  All of the money they need comes from donations so I wondered if you would like to help me by sponsoring me.

I am going to have my haircut off to my chin, about 25cms in assembly on the 18th of October to try and raise money to help – would you sponsor me?  We are then going to send my hair off to the Little Princesses charity where they make wigs for children who have had cancer.

If we raise £300 the teachers at my school will receive lots of fun information and regular "pupdates" about the dogs.  This will hopefully make more children at my school who have not read the book aware of the charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
