Story
Since my car was restored, it has been regularly driven by me and given me lots of pleasure.
I have researched its history and learned about its racing past, including period races at Goodwood, Snetterton, Donnington etc. and more recently at Goodwood Revival where it won its race. It has also become clear that it is one of the very few Aces of the type which took part in the original Mille Miglia and is eligible to do so in the modern version of the event. There are thousands of applicants for this event every year but the rarity of my car and its proven race history have helped me to gain an entry.
This will be a big challenge for the car, for me and for my co-driver Steve Gray (who will also act as on-board mechanic!) Neither Steve nor I have ever done a long distance event such as this so our main aim is to complete the course. We don't expect to win anything but, as a regularity event rather than a race, we have every confidence that we can succeed. Since the event takes place over four days and nights with a total distance in excess of 1000 miles and scheduled driving times of up to 15.5 hours in a session, this will be a real test of the car and of our stamina and ability.
My husband and I are keen supporters of the Surrey Hills Society and I do much of my driving in the Surrey Hills, so I have nominated this charity as the recipient of any donations which my friends and colleagues would like to make. Please support my entry in what is likely to be my "event of a lifetime" whilst benefiting a local charity which helps to conserve and enhance the area where I live, work and play.
