Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On July 11th I will be holding a coffee morning to raise funds for CHSS. Those who attend will enjoy homebaked cakes, biscuits and breads. Tea and coffee and light refreshements will also be available. I will be around to answer any questions the guests have and I will have information booklets available too.
The money raised could benefit myself and members of my family along with others in the UK. Sadly we have lost loved ones over the years and I want to make them proud by helping others who have the various conditions that affected them.
Did you know chest related problems account for more calls on health service resources than any other illness and there are approximately 13,000 new strokes in Scotland each year. Of these approximately 3,000 are in someone under 65. Coronary Heart Disease is one of the most common causes of death in Scotland. Throughout the country the prevalence of the associated risk factors (e.g. smoking, diet and physical inactivity) is high and around 8.2% of men and 6.5% of women are living with coronary heart disease.
£50 will provide two hours of warm and friendly reassurance from our registered nurses on our Advice Line (0808 811 0899) providing support not only for those affected but their families too. A listening ear when it is needed most.
£125 will help fund a volunteer driver for a year to drive a service user to their local community support group. Often the only barrier to service users accessing our groups is transport and that is why our drivers are so important.
£200 will pay for two people to attend a 9 week COPD self management course, enabling them to meet others with long term chest illness and learn how to slow the progression of their currently incurable condition.
£400 can help provide communication aids or home adaptions to improve the independence, mobility and dignity for someone who has a chest, heart or stroke illness via our personal support grants scheme.
£800 can help fund a year’s training and support for a Heart Failure Support Volunteer who visits clients in their homes and helps to address the social isolation experienced by so many after a diagnosis of heart failure.
£1,000 could cover the costs of specialist spectroscopy and heart scans in an Aberdeen study evaluating new therapies for heart failure
