Story
Before my dad passed away almost 3 years ago, my brother and I gave palliative care to him in the comforts of his own home. He passed away 10 days from diagnosis of mesothelioma asbestos cancer. As this was during covid times life was a bit different and nurses weren’t always as available. 2 days before my dad passed a Marie Curie nurse called Maureen came through the door to help us and the only word that comes to my mind is “Angel”. Maureen was the most amazing individual. She stayed with us until my dad passed, I can’t explain in words what this lady did for us. From the moment we met her we felt safe!
After Dad’s passing I lay on the sofa for almost 2 years in a grieving state with crisps. As you can imagine this was not a great time but a year ago today I woke up one morning inspired by my husband and thought enough was enough and started the couch to 5k running programme. I am now at a point where I’m ready to challenge myself and I have been very lucky to be offered a place running for Marie Curie at the London Marathon. When I got the phone call I cried with happiness! I couldn’t think of a better charity to give back to, they helped me in a big way and I want to pay them back my gratitude. This charity is very important to me and many others so please help me to raise £2000 by April 2024! Marathon Training starts in January 😃
Here’s what Marie curie can do with the fundraising…….
