Story
From Sunday 31 March 2013 until Sunday 19 May 2013 I will be completing 5k a day for 50 days. It may not sound much doing 5k every day, but the reason that I am doing this is to help to raise funds to help my daughter Estelle and her other Rett friends to reverse Rett Syndrome.
Estelle is my youngest daughter who is 11 years old and the whole family dote on her, she is an amazing little girl who developed just as other little girls develop up until the age of 1 years old, at this point she began to regress, losing her speech, her fine motor skills and her ability to generally progress, she is however generally a very happy girl who has lots of love to give to her family. Estelle is reliant on me, dad and her sisters to help her through her day to day living, Estelle needs 24/7 care. At 11 Estelle should be messing with her elder sisters, pinching their make up, clothes, asking for help with homework but instead her sisters are watching every move she makes to be sure she dont harm herself, reading her stories before bed, trying to make her happy. Myself and her dad have to feed her, make sure she looks nice in her clothes, do her hair, bathe her, the list is endless. Each day is a challenge for Estelle, but it doesnt have to be this way as we know that Rett Syndrome has been reversed in the lab. That is why I am doing this challenge so Estelle and others dont have to face the challenges of Rett Syndrome every day.
