I am doing the 10k Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK because the fight against cancer is a subject very close to my heart.  I know a lot of people who have been affected by cancer in one way or another and indeed was diagnosed myself with breast cancer in 2010.  Then last year my very close friend, Andrea Ferguson, was also diagnosed with breast cancer and in January this year a family member was diagnosed with it too.  The care and treatment we have all received (or are still receiving) has been fantastic.

The treatment for breast cancer (and indeed other cancers) these days is fantastic and has come on such a long way, and they are making new discoveries and improvements all the time.  So having benefited myself from the fantastic care and treatments already available, I want to do something in return both to raise awareness and to raise money to help sustain and further improve the fight against this horrible disease.
