Story
“An Evening of Hope for Ukraine” on Saturday 15th of October will certainly be a very special date in Do Your Thing Choir's diary this year. The stunning venue of the magnificent Albion Church in Ashton-under-Lyne will be the setting for this special evening to help raise funds for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
DYT will be performing and will be joined by the DYT Kids Choir as well as the newly formed DYT Youth Choir for this evening of celebration and song.
Liz Taylor, DYT’s Musical Director explains why this evening is so important and why she has reached out to the Ukranian community to get involved.
“As music is a universal language and translates to all our hearts, no matter where we are in the world, I wanted to invite people who have come over from Ukraine who are musicians and singers to be part of this very special evening.
I am delighted that we will be joined by a beautiful singer, Mariam, who will be singing her modernised arrangements of traditional Ukrainian folk songs and playing a Ukrainian stringed instrument called the bandura. We are also thrilled to announce that we have an incredible singer, Maksym, a well known vocal talent in Ukraine, where he was featured on the Ukrainian version of The Voice Kids three years ago. I can’t wait to hear both of these incredible performances and we are delighted that Mariam and Maksym will be part of our evening.
Two years ago, a concert like this was only a dream as we were in lockdown and the only voices we could hear were our own. This evening will be a celebration of being back sharing the joy of singing, being connected and most importantly raising money for this very important cause.”
