Story
2019 is here and this year's ‘Pitch in a Pound’ day is just around the corner! On Friday the 15th February 2019
Edit: We're so sad to say that Andy passed away on 26th January. He was comfortable, calm and not in any pain, and for that we’re thankful.
I have to say that I’m in awe of how he lived alongside this beast called cancer, and how he coped so admirably with the rotten treatment he went through, he was a star.
We both realised how fortunate we are to have so many wonderful, strong family and friends to support us through it all, and we thank them all for being there for us, it made things so much easier to bear.
Huge thanks also to the amazing medical support from the wonderful wonderful North Devon Hospice, especially Jill Demott who was with us all the way.
Now, remember Andy the way he was, full of life, silliness, fun and laughter, and he will live on in our hearts and memories...

Andy and I have had so much support through North Devon Hospice, which is ongoing, and we want to again give something back. You all donated so so generously last year, and we don't expect you to dig as deep again, which is why we chose the 'Pitch in a pound' day. Just one pound added to all the other pounds makes a huge difference. One pound is all we would ask, but the JustGiving minimum is £2 !
Thank you for your support. I've included information about North Devon Hospice below.
Patients are at the heart of everything we do. The quality of their personal and medical experience is of key importance to us. Our mission is to promote the relief of symptoms amongst people with life-limiting illnesses. We do this through:
- Specialist palliative care for patients with an advanced, progressive illness and the adults and children who are close to the patient
- Personal care to patients at the end-of-life and support to their families at home and in other settings
- Supportive care to patients who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and the adults and children who are close to the patient
- Advice, support and education provision to patients, families, communities, organisations, and healthcare professionals who are responding to life-limiting illness, death and loss
