Story

WERE BACK!!

In 2013, we broke the World Record for the fastest female Double English Channel Relay completing the swim in 18hrs 13mins.

Naturally, people asked us, "What's next, a triple crossing?!

Not being a team to turn down a challenge and a chance to raise more money for charity, we accepted and attempted to go for the Triple Crossing in 2015.

Unfortunately it wasnt a good year for Channel Swimming and a lower than average number of swims went ahead. We were fortunate and there was a chance to go in October. We started strongly, and at the first turn, we were 1.5 hour under World Record pace but despite swimming
at over 4km an hour, the tide swept us 6 miles down the French coast! Even though we didn't achieve our initial aim, it was the fastest single relay crossing of 2015.

Were having another go this year. Our tidal window is Thursday 29th June to Wednesday 5th July.

The record were aiming to beat is at 32hrs 31mins.

The team line up is Dee, Emma, Jane, Lucy, Natalie and Nikki. Our boat is the Louise Jane piloted by Father and Son team of Andy and James King.

What we will encounter on the swim

  • 63 miles of swimming minimum (we will swim further due tides
  • Water temps between 13 and 16 degrees centigrade (no wetsuits are allowed
  • Stinging jellyfish
  • Swimming round the clock, including through the night in complete darkness
  • Rough seas
  • Floating debris and thick seaweed
  • The Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world with up to 500 tankers, container ships, ferries and fishing vessels passing through the arrow straight every day; it's the M25 of shipping!·

Our chosen charities

  1. The British Heart Foundation is a cause close to many of us - 3 team members have required their help in the past.
  2. We are also supporting Headway, who were fantastic and supported one of our families following an accident.

Please support us if you can - any amount no matter
how small will be gratefully received!

Thank you so much.
