Hi! What are you doing reading this? Can't you see the SPONSOR ME NOW button above? :)
Why I'm running
My brain won its battle with my body over the subject of running the New York Marathon. Body reminded Brain of the pain it experienced 10 years ago and said in no uncertain terms that it wasn't a good idea. Brain said it didn't know what the fuss was about, and that everythng would be fine. Soon afterwards, Brain had told Mouth to agree, and instructed Hands to fill in the paperwork. Body is still protesting at this blatant disregard of democracy to this very day...
The thing is, Brain had a point. London 1998 was one of the best experiences of my life. The runners, the supporters, the sounds, the sights - all created a fantastic day and memories for life. Hopefully, New York will be all that and more.
Why I chose this charity
People often say "I had a hard childhood" or "It was tough growing up". I can't. I had a great childhood: happy, mostly healthy, and the only worry I had was whether we had enough players for 3-and-in over the park.
Dreams Come True helps kids who aren't so lucky. Some of them haven't got long to live, others have a limited life. All of the stories are inspirational. If I can be a part of giving some of them a bit of sunshine and help Dreams make a difference then it's more than worthwhile running a few miles to do this.
'nuff said.
