Story

A huge, huge thank you to you all for supporting and encouraging me through this challenge. Your support has been fantastic and I'm so pleased we have raised so much money together.

I successfully completed the 85 mile Ridgeway race in 17 hours and 15 minutes.
My result was:
1st place Male Veteran aged 45-50.
1st place UK Trail Running Championships - 1st Man over 45.
5th place overall.
4th man overall.

And a great big thank you to my brilliant support team Daniel and Papu.

Welcome and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Grandad John is my dad and grandad to Ellie, Eashani, Jai and Isabella. He's got it a bit unlucky in recent years and has a mix of Parkinsons, Lewy body dementia and Osteoporosis.

We're raising funds for the North Staffordshire branch of 'The Parkinson's Disease Society' which covers the area where grandad John lives and is a great support for the family. The PDS is funded entirely by voluntary donations and is a really great cause, so please sponsor me today! With your support we can, for example, raise the £150 that funds an invaluable Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist for a day. It is an honour to try and raise money and run for this charity, for grandad John and for all other Parkinson's sufferers. So thank you for your generosity.

The Ridgeway Challenge is an ultra running race along the 87 mile long Ridgeway National Trail. The route runs along a 5000 year old trackway ("Britains oldest road") through the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs with 9,000 feet of ascent. Starting on the top of Ivinghoe Beacon and finishing in Avebury this is the same route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers.

This is a non-stop race that starts at 12 noon on Saturday 29th August, I'll run through the night and finish some time on Sunday. I've never done anything like this before and it's going to be a real challenge just to complete the race in one piece. Please wish me luck!

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
