Story
Dear all.
I am 45 years of age and work as a police sergeant in Ayr. In my leisure time i have been competing in the sport of triathlon for 15 years.
This year i have decided to go for The Big One, by competing in the World Series Ironman Championships due to be held in Klagenfurt, Austria. The event commences at 07:00 hrs on 7.7.07 and is expected to attract over 120,000 spectators at the event and a live screening on Sky Sports TV.
Never before have i attempted the Ironman distance of a 2.4 mile open water swim, 112 mile cycle finished by a full marathon, so this will be my first, and probably my last attempt, as i ain't getting any younger, and perhaps after this it might be time to take up a less arduous pastime, such as stamp collecting.
To commemorate the event, i have decided to have a go at raising sponsorship for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). This is without doubt one of the most worthwhile Charity Organisations in Scotland, and one that remains close to my heart.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Hospice Association Scotland, (CHAS) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! You can either use the hardcopy sponsor form that is available, or enter my personal website and sponsor me online :- www.justgiving.com/andyclapperton
UPDATE: Course completed in 10hrs 57mins & 44secs, which is 2 hrs below my target time, so well chuffed! A HUGE thank you to each and every one of you for your support. The website will remain open for a few more weeks for anyone who still wishes to make a donation to this extremely worthwhile charity.
Regards
Andy Clapperton
