Story
I was diagnosed with Kidney Disease at a young age and then in September 2018 I was told that my kidney function had declined into Stage 5 (final stage) kidney disease. Rightly or wrongly this gave me the 'kick' I needed to change my lifestyle. To aid my health not only did I start to eat better but I took up gym work, swimming and running and it became apparent I enjoy running over the others! The more I ran, the more weight I lost and I now stand here 3 stone lighter than I was in September 2018.
Although I am currently completing a running challenge for a separate charity with my wife Stacey (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/1500kmin2019), I decided to on an individual challenge and this is for me to complete the Chester Half Marathon in May of this year. To put this into context, 8 months ago I couldn't run half a mile without having to stop and in 9 weeks from now I will be looking at completing the 13.1 mile course in under 2 and a half hours. This will be, without doubt, one of the most amazing things I've ever done and please remember that I am completing this training whilst being assessed for a kidney transplant
So, I have decided to raise money and awareness of the work that Kidney Research UK complete so please, if you can, donate for this cause that is so so so close to me
Thank you for reading my story
