Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Matthew was a normal, fit and healthy three year old. But in April 1992 he got a cold that seemed to last for longer than normal.  It turned out he had developed Type 1 Diabetes. This is when he started his daily regime of multiple injections and blood tests for the rest of his life.

Ten years on, Matthew has just started year 10 at Ysgol John Bright. He is very healthy and takes diabetes in his stride. He is very active playing rugby and badminton; and he loves mountain biking. But he has had to deal with a lot that other kids have not, and his life will never quite be normal.

Diabetes UK provides great support to all sufferers.  Whilst we all hope that a cure can be found one day, the information, advice and opportunities to discuss issues means people with the disease can continue a near normal life and avoid the many complications that have affected people in the past.
