Story
This is a charity both close to my heart and close to my roots in Lancashire. My brother has suffered with severe mental illness for many years now, having been in and out of hospital over the years, and relies almost wholly on the unpaid, unconditional, patient and loving support from my mum and dad, who quite frankly should be spending their retirement in much more relaxing ways!
People like my mum and dad go above and beyond because there's no choice & no-one else will if they don't. Of course they wouldn't have it any other way, he's their son and my bro, but who helps them? I have seen the direct impact that charities such as Carer's Link Lancashire can have in providing that much needed periodic support and respite during difficult and emotionally draining long term situations.
I'm doing the 12 mile Tough Mudder event with my best pal Pat, not to test whether I can do it (I'm confident of that!), but to raise awareness and donations for all those carers out there who could really use some support themselves, instead of always being the one providing the support, with little thanks in return. Just £20 would pay for a counselling session with a paid professional.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I donated the first £100 myself to get things going! £100 pays for 12 carers to have a day out and break from caring. I hope you can spare a few quid for a great cause.
