Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
2 years ago, I took part in Ride the North 2019, which was a 2 day event, cycling 86/87 miles each day. Needless to say, it was a very arduous challenge!
This year, due to covid restrictions, Ride the North will be held on one day only, *Saturday 28th August 2021 (originally the date was set for 24th July but they have delayed this til August). This is subject to review in July as to whether it will go ahead, however, in the event of this, I will cycle the same distance myself. There are three options of distance for Ride the North this year, which both starts and finishes in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. I will be attempting the longest option of 112 miles and am currently training hard for this. Not bad for a 61 year old! 😎
Having previously completed Ride the North as a personal challenge, this year I wanted to raise funds for charity. I have two grandsons, Logan (aged 3) and Corey (10 months), who both have a genetic disorder that may result in liver or lung disease, called Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. There is currently non cure for their condition and so I would like to help spread awareness of Alpha-1 and hopefully raise as much funds as possible for Children's Liver Disease Foundation. CLDF is the only UK charity dedicated to fighting all childhood liver diseases and they fund a wide range of research projects. I hope that one day soon, this leads to a cure for Alpha-1 along with over 100 other different liver diseases that can affect babies, children or young people.
The boys come from a family who are passionate Liverpool fans so, Logan and Corey, You'll Never Walk Alone ❤️
Please donate whatever you can to help Children's Liver Disease Foundation. Their research is so incredibly important and it would mean a lot to me to raise awareness of Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency too.
Thank you!
