Starting August 2017 I shall set off for the equally exiting and daunting challenge to circumnavigate the globe taking part in the 2017/18 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. A sailing event of 12 one design boats over 8 legs and 40’000 nautical miles.

I shall be sailing on CV29 as one of an international crew of novice (me) and amateur sailors lead by a professional skipper, representing the sailing city of ‘Qingdao/China’ - one of the race stop-overs.

Participating crew is raising funds for UNICEF, the official race charity partner. While I may experience discomfort and challenging circumstances, this pales compared to the horrific conditions children have to endure from violence, chaos of war, hunger and disease.
